The Second International Sports Law Conference will be held in Tehran in February 2025.

Hamed Alizadeh Aghdam, the scientific secretary of the Second International Sports Law Conference, announced this news and said: “Given the extraordinary response from the sports community and legal professionals to the first conference held last year, it was decided to organize the second conference, which is an effective effort to educate and elevate the level of sports law literacy among legal experts and the sports community.”   He stated that this year’s conference will include new sections, such as holding the first sports law gallery, acceptance and mediation, specialized workshops on sports law for legal experts and attorneys for the sports community, recognition of the best sports law book and publisher, recognition of the best lawyer, researcher, and legal expert in sports law, and the introduction of sports law ambassadors from among Olympic athletes in Iran. Additionally, various courses will be held, including sports media law, familiarity with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), doping and para-doping, sports contracts and bills, and courses for civil and criminal officials. Finally, the achievements of the Sports Law Association over the past five years will be showcased, with international courses on the sports laws of Türkiye and Armenia and invitations extended to legal professionals from these two countries.   Alizadeh Aghdam emphasized regarding the activities of the Sports Law Association in Iranian sports: “The Sports Law Association was officially established and began operations in 2020 with the efforts of Dr. Hamid Baghernia, the president and founder of the association, with the permission of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and under the sponsorships of the Federation of Sports Associations. Its goal is to enhance sports law literacy across communities and provide various legal services to the sports sector, including consulting and education. The association benefits from a prominent and experienced board of directors that strengthens its structure.”   Regarding the issues present in sports contracts, this legal expert emphasized: “The biggest problem in Iranian sports concerning contract formation is the lack of utilization of sports lawyers, which unfortunately leads to defective contracts that ultimately no lawyer can defend against claims from the opposing party. These cases often result in failure.”
